I remember these days. I remember this tour.
Just...
Um..
*drool.*
Case in point regarding TMBG as puppets. If you think I don't squeal at this you'd be WRONG. Sad and WRONG.
"I LIKE MONKEYS. LOTS AND LOTS OF MONKEYS."
"Right... monkeys."
...And the song is deathly catchy too.
"Most people say 'No MSG.' We say, 'Yes MSG.'"
"INTEGERRRRRRRRRRS!"
I would like to see a film of just the two of them talking. For like, three hours. As puppets. I would watch that. Many, many times.
What's the best music documentary or concert film you've seen?
This blog has been way too TMBG-heavy lately, but I think I'm required by law to post this. By law. Federal and state. Do you want me to break the law? I thought not.
By the way, the director of this film, AJ Schnack, has a new documentary called Kurt Cobain About a Son. Check it totally out.
The boys say they want this to go viral. Who am I to argue? Merely a foot soldier for the Brooklyn Ambassadors of Love. (Do they still call themselves that...?)
This song had to grow on me, but I think I'm fully on board. I'm not crazy about this type of animation; it reminds me too much of R. Crumb who really, really creeps me out. But it's good animation (I especially like the Beatles/Monkees moves). And now, meet The Mesopotamians:
It's a bad, bad world...
Do you own all the albums of any particular musical artist or group? Who?

I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about.
[whistling nonchalantly]
It's rare when I attend a TMBG show and a) score a place right up front b) it's a daytime show and c) cameras are allowed. So I shot photos rapid-fire until I ran out of memory. Here are a couple; I narrowed down the rest of them to about 30 photos on Flickr.
Um... the ratio of Flans to Linnell photos may be a little... skewed. Because, you know, I was standing on Flans' side and it was easier to take pictures of him.
"The Else," the new album by They Might Be Giants, is out now. Yes, I know it's only available on iTunes and some people think iTunes is evil. Whatever with that. Of course I'm going to buy it now, and then buy it again when it's available on CD (but TMBG are very thoughtful in that when it's available in CD form, it comes with a full-length bonus CD so I don't feel like I'm wasting my money. I figure since it's out two months early on iTunes, that comes out to $5/month to hear it early. I'm cool with that).
I'm still forming an opinion of it, but so far I'm tentatively enjoying it. Not as frenetic and hooky as I'm used to from them, but it's nicely produced.
Oh, and if you are within the sound of my voice, I'm sharing the album right now on iTunes. So check it totally out. But go buy it later, you stingy bastard.
(P.S. - #13 on the iTunes Albums chart; #2 on the iTunes Alternative Albums chart. YeahYEAH. See? not just me.)
(Update: #11 on the iTunes Albums chart and #1 on the iTunes Alternative Albums chart.)
