It was Kimberly's last day. I asked her what kind of cupcakes she would like. She said, "Chocolate!" So I made chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter filling and a chocolate ganache-type frosting (recipe here).
They weren't very good.
I had several just to make sure they sucked as much as I thought they did.
Avocado. Glorious, glorious avocado. As a kid, I couldn't stand the stuff mostly because of the texture. Way too mushy. Then, later in life, I enjoyed guacamole, but not "whole" avocado. I think it was only a few years ago that I came to the realization that avocado is indeed the food of the gods.
'Tis a pity, too, because growing up we had an avocado tree in our yard. Years and years of shunned, free avocados. Our dog enjoyed them, though.
These appeared in our office courtesy of Nob. They're called Tokyo Bananas, and they are touted as a "gourmet Twinkie." I'd have to agree, but they're not nearly as sweet as a Twinkie. Instead of the ubiquitous cream filling found in most Hostess baked goods, you get a banana cream delight.
Now, I hate fakey-Now-and-Later banana flavor, but this tasted like, well, a banana. You can tell they're real bananas because the filling is slightly brownish... like an actual banana. I'm happy they didn't add a liter of yellow food coloring to offset this natural coloring.
All in all, I'd have to say, YUM! And too bad they're all gone.
